Discography

Born in Lisbon in 1973.
Studied at the Hot Clube Jazz School while keeping his classical studies at the National Conservatory.
In 1994, as a graduate of the Hot Clube Jazz School, he represented Portugal at the annual IASJ meeting, in New York. Attended Workshops with Bruce Barth, Phil Markowitz, Ron Jackson, Frank Mobus and Barrie Harris.
Since then he has been playing in and out of Portugal with musicians such as: Rick Margitza, Maria João, Mário Laginha, Jerome Richardson, Benny Lackner, Perico Sambeat, Bernardo Sassetti, Stefano D’Anna, Llibert Fortuny, Jorge Pardo, Antonio Faraó, Ivan Padduart, John Ellis, Jarmo Savolainen, Aaron Goldberg, Maria Schneider, Markku Ounaskari, Kari ikonen, among others.
He was voted “Jazz Musician of the Year” by critics choice in the web site www.jazzportugal.net.
He´s currently a member of the André Fernandes 4tet, Jesus Santandreu 4tet, Afonso Pais Trio, João Lencastre Group, Pedro Moreira Quinteto and Paulo Bandeira Quarteto.
Since 1999 he´s been also working with his own bands recording his debut Cd as a leader, “Ciclope”, folowed by “Nine Stories”, both for portuguese indie label Tone of a Pitch.
“Guruka”, his third album for Toap, has just been released.
